18.1. Anti-Cheat

No additional anti-cheat is required for official matches.

 

18.2. Match Procedure

18.2.1. Series Lengths

Matches are played as a best of 3 series in the preseason and regular season, best of 5 in the postseason and Open grand finals, and best of 7 in Major/Summer Invitational grand finals.

 

18.2.2. Match Format

The higher seed will create the lobby. The lobby should be set up with the following settings:

  • Lobby Mode - Tournament Draft

  • Game Privacy - Normal

  • First Draft Team - See sub-rules of 18.2.3.

 

18.2.3. Map Veto

18.2.3.1. Best of Three

The higher seed will have the choice of which team bans Battlegrounds first from the list of Battlegrounds in 18.2.4. Teams will then take turns banning maps until there are seven remaining. The team which banned first will then choose the first map, the team which banned second will choose the second map, and the team which banned first will choose the third map. The team which banned second will be the first draft team in games one and three, and the team which banned first will be the first draft team in game two.

 

18.2.3.2. Best of Five

The higher seed will have the choice of which team bans Battlegrounds first from the list of Battlegrounds in 18.2.4. Teams will then take turns banning maps until there are seven remaining. The team which banned first will then choose the first map, the team which banned second will choose the second map, and the team which banned first will choose the third map, the team which banned second will choose the fourth map, and the team which banned first will choose the fifth map. The team which banned second will be the first draft team in games one, three, and five, and the team which banned first will be the first draft team in games two and four.

 

18.2.3.3. Best of Seven

The higher seed will have the choice of which team bans Battlegrounds first from the list of Battlegrounds in 18.2.4. Teams will then take turns banning maps until there are seven remaining. The team which banned first will then choose the first map, the team which banned second will choose the second map, and the team which banned first will choose the third map, the team which banned second will choose the fourth map, the team which banned first will choose the fifth map, the team which banned second will choose the sixth map, and the team which banned first will choose the seventh map. The team which banned second will be the first draft team in games one, three, five, and seven and the team which banned first will be the first draft team in games two, four, and six.

 

18.2.4. Battlegrounds

The following Battlegrounds are permitted for play in official matches:

  • Battlefield of Eternity

  • Blackheart’s Bay

  • Braxis Holdout

  • Cursed Hollow

  • Dragon Shire

  • Garden of Terror

  • Hanamura

  • Haunted Mines

  • Infernal Shrines

  • Sky Temple

  • Tomb of the Spider Queen

  • Towers of Doom

  • Volskaya Foundry

  • Warhead Junction

 

Sandbox and Brawl-specific Battlegrounds are prohibited from play in official matches.

 

18.2.5. Draft

All drafting will take place using the game’s in-game draft system. Usage of 3rd party drafting methods may result in punishment for the players/teams involved. For reference the hero picking order is (with the team that is the first draft team acting as Team A and the other team acting as Team B):

  • Team A Bans 1 Hero

  • Team B Bans 1 Hero

  • Team A Picks 1 Hero

  • Team B Picks 2 Heroes

  • Team A Picks 2 Heroes

  • Team B Bans 1 Hero

  • Team A Bans 1 Hero

  • Team B Picks 2 Heroes

  • Team A Picks 2 Heroes

  • Team B Picks 1 Hero

 

18.3. Restrictions

Any heroes, skins, mounts, banners, sprays, announcers, voice lines, or emojis that are currently disabled in ranked queues are prohibited from use for as long as they remain disabled in those queues.

 

18.4. Stoppage of Play

Teams are allowed a maximum of five minutes of pause time per game. Teams are prohibited from pausing during hero versus hero combat. Immediately before/after pausing, the pausing team must state the reason for their pause. The team which called the pause will be the ones to unpause the game, but before they are able to unpause they must confirm that both teams are ready to resume play. If the pausing team is ready to unpause but the other team is not, pause time will be used from the team which is not ready.

 

18.5. Player Count

Both teams participating in a match must provide 5 players at the beginning of the first game, and 4 for each consecutive game. During a game, if a team should lose 2 players that have disconnected with the intention of no longer playing in the match at the same time, that team will forfeit the remainder of the game to the opposing team. If a team is not able to field the required amount of players for additional games in the series, then they will forfeit the remainder of the match.
